As we approach the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we are thrilled to share the workshop, “Preamble Portraits,” a creative class inspired by that foundational document.

The class invites participants to reflect on the iconic words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident…” and respond with their own truths—through writing, visual art, or a mix of both. Whether you’re expressing personal values, community dreams, or civic hopes, Preamble Portraits is a space to create something meaningful in response to history.
No writing or art experience is necessary. This is a joyful, reflective class for adults and teens who want to engage with legacy, language, and personal voice.
Honey House Press is excited to bring Preamble Portraits to other venues throughout 2025. If you represent a school, museum, civic group, or arts organization, We would love to collaborate with you to host the class in your space. It can be adapted for all kinds of groups, from veterans and youth to educators and intergenerational audiences.
